Pastels have been my passion for five years now. I love the vibrant colors and the immediate effect they achieve.

I have always been an artist although it has only been in recent years that I have realized it. I have worked in such a variety of mediums, silversmithing, pottery, basketry, fiber arts, among others, I thought of myself as a crafts person. Now that I have found pastels and a wonderful teacher in Jill Starkey I know that creative spark of an artist has always driven me.

Portraits, especially of children are my favorite subject matter. I like looking for the details, capturing the joy in a moment in time, finding that spark of personality in each subject.

I also love to paint scenes of the far away places I have traveled, especially Africa.

The beautiful people and land have been a huge inspiration to me.

Working toward a business in portraiture is my prime objective now.

Making a work of art of a loved one is a special joy.
